Case coordination Shepparton helps hundreds of people in need | Minister for Human Services

Over the past year, hundreds of Shepparton residents needing a helping hand have received extra support from a specialised Centrelink team. Minister for Human Services Senator Kim Carr said Shepparton, one of 28 sites around the country trialling Case Coordination, is a great example of personalised service helping people get back on their feet. Case Coordination in Shepparton has helped more than 790 people and, on more than 1500 occasions, it has linked people to local support organisations.

Press Release - Fair Work Act Amendment Bill passes the Parliament [28/11/2012]

Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations and Minister for Financial Services and Superannuation, Bill Shorten, has welcomed the passage of the Fair Work Amendment Bill 2012 through the Parliament today. The Act implements a number of recommendations from the independent Fair Work Act Review, and other changes arising from the Minister's consultation with stakeholders such as members of the National Workplace Relations Consultative Council, small business representatives, the Fair Work Ombudsman and Fair Work Australia. With the passing of this legislation Fair Work Australia will now be renamed the Fair Work Commission.

The Minister for Defence Science and Personnel, Warren Snowdon, said its a significant milestone in the ongoing project and means that very shortly Army will be prepared to open previously restricted roles to female applicants. Defence plans to implement the new employment standards that focus on removing barriers for women across all three Services in the first phase of its five year plan. Army will be the first in Defence to begin implementing the changes, with all jobs available for currently serving women to transfer into from January 2013, provided they meet the specific employment standards of the role.
