Defence Ministers � Minister for Defence ? Defence Minister announces the gifting of two Landing Craft to the Philippines

The Australian Government will gift two recently-decommissioned Landing Craft Heavy vessels, including a package of spare parts, to the Philippines Government, the Minister for Defence Kevin Andrews announced today. The Landing Craft will be commissioned in the Philippines Navy and will provide additional intra-theatre sealift capability. The Philippines Government is also considering whether to purchase the remaining three Landing Craft Heavy.

Water quality is already improving in the Great Barrier Reef - media release 29 January 2015

Minister for the Environment. Improving the quality of water entering the Great Barrier Reef is a critical area for investment for the Australian Government - and we're already making strong progress. There is still work to be done, but the combined 2012 and 2013 Reef Plan Report Card reported that 59 per cent of the horticulture producers and 49 per cent of sugarcane growers - the major users of pesticides - were already improving their land practices.
