120721 Border Protection Command assists vessel

HMAS Glenelg operating under the control of Border Protection Command has intercepted a suspected irregular entry vessel that sought assistance north east of Christmas Island this afternoon. HMAS Glenelg and ACV Triton provided assistance to the vessel at the request of the Australian Maritime Safety Authority. Border Protection Command will now make arrangements for the passengers to be transferred to Christmas Island, where they will undergo initial security, health and identity checks and their reasons for travel will be established.
