Ambassador to Iran, media release, 19 April 2013, Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs

Foreign Minister Bob Carr today announced Mr Paul Foley as Australia's next Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Iran. Mr Foley has previously served as Australian Ambassador to Afghanistan from 2010-2012 and Ambassador to East Timor from 2002-2004, with earlier postings in Saudi Arabia and Jamaica. Mr Foley has also held a number of senior positions in the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, including Assistant Secretary of the Middle East and Africa and Counter-Terrorism branches.
