Media Release: Two arrested over DVD piracy - Australian Federal Police
The Australian Federal Police (AFP) today arrested a 30-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman for allegedly importing and selling pirated DVD and Blu-Ray movies. The arrests follow a search warrant conducted at the couple's Carnegie residence in Melbourne's south-east, where between 40,000 and 50,000 pirated DVD and Blu-Ray movies were seized. The man was charged with sold an article that was an infringing copy of a work, namely DVD movies and copyright subsisted in that work at the time of the sale contrary to section 132AE(1) of the Copyright Act 1968 , and did possess with intent an article that was an infringing copy of a work, namely DVD movies and copyright subsisted in that work at the time to sell contrary to section 132AJ of the Copyright Act 1968.
