Media releases: 16 December 2014 - Fatality exposes danger of visual flight at night

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) is Australia's national transport safety investigator. On average there are two accidents a year that occur from visual flight at night. Under visual flight rules (VFR), it is crucial pilots have sufficient visual reference to see and avoid obstacles.
