Innovative investment gives Tasmanian farmers the edge
Federal Minister for Regional Development Simon Crean and Premier Lara Giddings today announced funding of $3.6 million for a world-first data project that will help the Tasmanian's economy diversify and give famers a competitive edge. Mr Crean said SenseT - developed in a partnership between CSIRO, the University of Tasmania (UTAS) and IBM - will transform Tasmania's many natural advantages into a competitive edge. Mr Crean said SenseT was a world-first project that combines environmental sensors, databases and computing power that will give Tasmanian farmers the edge when it comes to making informed decisions about irrigation, treatment and harvesting.
