120624 Christmas Island incident - Update 8 -1530 AEST

Border Protection Command can confirm a total of 17 bodies have now been recovered from the search area midway between Christmas Island and Indonesia. This includes victims recovered by both HMAS Larrakia and HMAS Wollongong since their arrival in the search area late on Thursday. HMAS Larrakia is now returning to Christmas Island after completing the search for bodies this morning (Sunday, 24 June).
