26 September 2012 - Border Protection Command intercepts vessels

ACV Hervey Bay , operating under the control of Border Protection Command, intercepted two suspected irregular entry vessels north-west of Cocos (Keeling) Islands overnight. The vessels were initially detected by a RAAF Maritime Patrol aircraft, operating under the control of Border Protection Command. Border Protection Command will arrange for the people to be transferred to Australian Government authorities on Cocos (Keeling) Islands where they will have basic health and security checks.
