Arts Minister Simon Crean has wished the Sydney Symphony ' '—or 'safe travels' in Mandarin—as the orchestra departs Sydney today on a six-city tour of China to showcase Australian arts institutions to international audiences. 'This tour will be the second time the Sydney Symphony has visited China under the leadership of Principal Conductor Vladimir Ashkenazy and demonstrates the continued strengthening of ties between our two nations,' Mr Crean said. The Sydney Symphony will tour the cities of Tianjin, Beijing, Guangzhou, Wuhan, Shanghai and Qingdao.
