Minister for Home Affairs Jason Clare today congratulated the Australian Federal Police, the Australian Customs and Border Protection Service and state law enforcement agencies on a successful investigation targeting drugs sent through the mail. The joint operation has led to the arrest of 20 people and the seizure of 18.1 kilograms of illicit drugs worth $8.2 million.. People who purchase illegal drugs via the internet and have them mailed to Australia are committing a criminal offence with penalties ranging up to life imprisonment and fines up to $850,000.
