Simpson Prize winners head to Gallipoli for ANZAC Day | Ministers' Media Centre

Eight talented young winners of the 2012 Simpson Prize will travel to Gallipoli to attend this year's commemorative ANZAC Day services as part of their award. Minister for Veterans' Affairs Warren Snowdon said the theme of this year's Simpson Prize was about exploring why the commemoration of ANZAC Day has increased in popularity in recent years. The First World War, the ANZAC landings at Gallipoli and the battles of the Western Front are a vivid part of Australian history and ANZAC Day is one of our most important national occasions, Mr Snowdon said.
