Media Release 47/12 - Cooperation for WA grain rail on track

Today's launch of the Co-operative Bulk Handling (CBH) Group's new rail fleet to support Western Australia's $5 billion grains industry is another major step in the modernisation of the Western Australian grain rail network. Representing Federal Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, Anthony Albanese, Federal Member for Brand, Gary Gray, congratulated CBH Group on its investment and applauded its confidence in the future of the WA grains industry. The WA grain rail upgrade involves more than 1,200 kilometres of railway through the Wheatbelt regions and will see the upgrade of the Great South Railway (GSR) from Avon to Redmond, Kwinana North zone lines and Albany zone lines that link terminus points at Hyden and Newdegate with the GSR at Wagin.
