Malaysian student sentenced in Perth for importing child pornography

A 27-year-old Malaysian student was sentenced last week in the Perth District Court to 12 months' gaol for importing child pornography. Mr Jan Eave Jeremy Wan arrived at Perth International Airport on a flight from Singapore in May 2011and was selected for a baggage examination by Customs and Border Protection officers. Customs and Border Protection Acting Manager Investigations Western Australia, Vesna Watt, said that the importation of material that contains child pornography is a serious offence which can have severe consequences.
