Better maths and science teachers for our schools | Ministers' Media Centre

The Minister for Tertiary Education, Skills, Science and Research, Chris Bowen MP, and the Minister for School Education, Early Childhood and Youth, Peter Garrett MP, today announced a new $12.4 million program to improve university training and preparation for maths and science teachers. The Enhancing the Training of Mathematics and Science Teachers program will help to boost the effectiveness of science and maths teaching in schools by better preparing graduate teachers for the classroom. That starts in the classroom by giving maths and science teachers the skills they need to inspire the next generation of scientists and mathematicians.
